Construction on Old Goforth Road is nearing completion. The City’s contractor, Smith Construction, will begin laying the first course of asphalt on the west side of the road on Friday, Oct. 18. Asphalt work will continue on Saturday, Oct. 19. Striping/painting is expected to be complete on Monday, Oct. 21. However, the forecast calls for rain on Monday and that may impact the schedule. The road is anticipated to open on Tuesday, again barring any major rain impacts. We want to thank the community for your patience during this project.
Improvements include dedicated left and right turn lanes at Tom Green Elementary, intersection safety improvements at FM 2001, increased pedestrian connectivity between the subdivisions and Tom Green Elementary (2,000 linear feet of curbing, gutter, and sidewalks along the west side of the road), a 4,000 square foot retaining wall, and aesthetic improvements.
