BUDA, TX (Oct. 15, 2019) — Baylor Scott & White Health celebrated the opening of its new medical center located in Buda. The new medical center is the first full-service hospital in Hays County under the Baylor Scott & White name. While the medical center opened its doors in late September, an official ribbon cutting ceremony with the Buda Area Chamber of Commerce was held on Tuesday, Oct. 15 to celebrate the opening.
“With the opening of Baylor Scott & White’s Medical Center, Buda residents now have the option to seek the services provided by a full-service hospital in their own community. This includes primary care, specialty care, and hospital services,” said Buda Mayor George Haehn. “The City of Buda looks forward to a long and healthy relationship with Baylor Scott & White.”
“With the tremendous growth it is imperative that our citizens have access to quality health care,” said Buda City Manager Kenneth Williams. “The opening of Baylor Scott & White’s state-of-the art health facility is a big step in achieving that goal for the citizens of Buda.”
The medical center will add at least 150 jobs within the first four years of operation. Additional services will be added at the 75,000+ square foot facility as needed.
“This is our first medical center to open this far south in the State of Texas, so we are very proud of that,” said Jay Fox, president, Baylor Scott & White Austin/Round Rock region. “We will continue to expand and grow to make sure that we can take care of all the medical needs of the individuals that live in this area.”
The Buda Economic Development Corporation (Buda EDC) invested $375,000 in the project.
“We are excited about this project and honored to have helped it come to fruition. The Buda EDC knows that this medical center will provide momentum for growth in the region.” said Jennifer Storm, president, Buda EDC Board of Directors. “Baylor Scott & White Health will also bring hundreds of high paying jobs and provide a more diverse workforce.”
Baylor Scott & White Medical Center is located on the east side of Buda at 5330 Overpass Road.
