CITY OF BUDA MOURNS LOSS OF BELOVED EMPLOYEE
Martin “Doc” Dockendorf
BUDA, TX - August 21, 2019 - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved longtime Buda employee. Martin “Doc” Dockendorf passed away Wednesday, August 21st with his family by his side.
Doc was hired by the City of Buda’s Public Works Department in 2001 and currently served as the Wastewater Utility Supervisor. He was a wonderful employee who understood the meaning of the word “team”. He was focused on the good of the City and the department, rather than his own benefit.
During the 17 plus years that he was employed by public works, Doc made many great contributions to the City and helped it move forward in numerous ways. He spent a lot of time behind the scenes overseeing the sanitary sewer department. In addition to his knowledge and expertise in the wastewater field, he was very mechanically inclined – one of those individuals who could “fix anything”. Doc was the go-to man for assisting with a myriad of issues in all departments. He was very skilled with electrical work, vehicle mechanics, and small engines.
He was an excellent cook, loved to fish, and was clever and quick witted. Doc was a colorful character who made us laugh every day. He is gone from our sight, but not our hearts. We will miss him dearly.
“The City of Buda sends our prayers and sympathies to the family and friends of longtime employee Martin ‘Doc’ Dockendorf,” said City Manager Kenneth Williams. “Doc was an important part of the Buda organization and will be greatly missed. Upon my arrival at the City, Doc was warm and welcoming and remained that way the entire time to all he came into contact with. We are saddened that he will no longer be with us physically, but we are sure his spirit will always remain.”
