Employee Spotlight Video - Amy Jensen
This time around we are shining the Employee Spotlight on Amy Jensen. Amy is a familiar face for those of you who visit the Buda Public Library. She is a lead circulation clerk.
“I mainly work the front desk. I help process patrons, find books, and issue new cards.”
Amy Jensen is a familiar face at the Buda Public Library. As a lead circulation clerk, she is one of the first people you encounter when you walk through the library doors.
“I also do a lot in the back. I process and catalog the new materials that we get in. I also fix a lot of the books that come back broken.“
Amy’s love for reading started at a young age. She worked as a library aid in middle school and high school.
“By my senior year I realized that I liked the atmosphere and being around books. I did my undergraduate studies in English and then I went on to get my master’s at UT.”
“During my grad work we came here for one of my classes to tour the old Buda Public Library. That is how I got into the Buda Library. I started volunteering and then I got a summer position. By the fall of 2013 a full-time position had opened up.”
Over the summer Amy and the rest of staff moved into the new library.
“With the new space we see a lot of new faces. We know a lot of people by face and by name. I also do a family story time once a week and it is a lot of fun to interact with the kids.”
As for the future, Amy’s has her sights set on a librarian title.
“I like to tell people I have the degree, but not the title yet. Hopefully someday I get there. Maybe something along the same lines of what I do here.”
