Buda Supports Small Businesses This Holiday Season
The Buda City Council has proclaimed Saturday, November 24 as Small Business Saturday in support of local businesses across Buda. The Buda Economic Development Corporation, Buda Main Street Program, Downtown Buda Merchants Group, City of Buda Tourism Department and Buda Area Chamber of Commerce formed a coalition to boost sales and recognition of the local businesses that contribute positively to the local community by creating jobs, boost the local economy, support local organizations and preserve neighborhoods.
Businesses across Buda will host a variety of promotions, giveaways, specials and more to invite consumers to forego the online giant retailers and instead shop in a relaxing environment where business owners can provide one on one attention and where consumers can find unique gifts for their loved ones.
In addition to shopping, dining and relaxing specials, the Buda Main Street Program, in conjunction with the Downtown Buda Merchants Group, will host the inaugural Cocoa Jingle on Main and Downtown Lighting Ceremony. From 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. the event will feature 8 stops and 11 businesses, each boasting the best hot cocoa in town. The Cocoa Jingle is free and open to the public. Participants can bring their own cocoa mugs or purchase one from any downtown business. Special downtown mugs will be available for purchase for $5 ea. at participating retailers. Cocoa stops include:
· Little Bluebird
· Old Main Street Station
· The Budaful Hiker
· Thatcher
· Sweet Cakes 4U
· The Carrington
· Buda’s Red Door
· The Little House on Main
· The Cigar Vault
· Buda Soda Fountain
· Two Blessed Barbershop
Participants will vote on their favorite cocoa. Jingle Jammie Awards will be awarded to individuals and groups wearing the best pajamas during the event. The Basil Trio will be bringing the jingle to Main St. as they perform leading up to the Downtown Lighting Ceremony.
At 6:15 p.m. the public is invited to meet at the Downtown Christmas Tree, located at 303 Main St. (in the parking lot in between the former Library and City Hall buildings) to countdown to lights with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Parking for both events is available on-street, in city-owned parking lots, and at the Buda Mill & Grain Co.
