City Park Closure/Construction Update Video - June 21, 2018
Starting on June 21, 2018, City Park will be closed for construction. In the end, you will get a new and improved City Park. Construction will take between 10 to 12 months.
The upgrades include two new playground areas for older and younger kids.
"We also added ADA swings, so it is going to be accessible for all,” said Parks and Recreation Director Greg Olmer.
“Right in between the two playgrounds we will have a splash pad that will be very popular for the City of Buda. In addition to the playground, electrical improvements will be made to the pavilion and it will potentially be painted as well. ”
The big addition to City Park is a new amphitheater.
“We did raise the roof of our amphitheater to make it more accommodating for lighting and for rigging sound equipment from the top of the roof area to get a more festival feel.”
Olmer says with all of these improvements there are opportunities for corporate sponsorship.
“There are some opportunities for the corporate sector to come in and sponsor some of the areas. It is a prime opportunity for them to showcase what they are doing for the community. We have a corporate sponsorship program in place. If they want to donate towards planting more trees, that’s an option. If they want to go for naming rights for the amphitheater, for the playground area, the splash pad or pavilion, there are many opportunities for sponsorship to improve the park.”
The San Antonio Street and Garison Road Improvement project also starts on June 21. It will focus on intersection safety improvements by separating San Antonio Street and Garison Road turning movements.
The road improvement project is expected to wrap up in November. For more information on our bond related projects you can visit our bond blog at www.ci.buda.tx.us/blog.
