Did you know that the City of Buda has a recycled water program to re-use effluent discharge from the City’s wastewater treatment plant to irrigate certain portions of the City? Instead of discharging all of the treated effluent water into waterways, the City re-uses some of this water to irrigate landscaping beds along Main Street and the new municipal site. This water is treated to a state regulated standard in order to be re-used for irrigation. The City also sells recycled water to some businesses for irrigation. This helps reduce the community’s water need and preserves our potable water for drinking.
Although the City is in Stage 1 water restrictions, you may notice that the City is irrigating the new municipal site and landscaping along Main Street. This is being done with recycled water. This water would otherwise be discharged. This supports the City’s sustainability effort by preserving potable drinking water and reducing our effluent discharge into waterways.
