The inaugural event was hosted by the City of Buda Historic Preservation Commission in partnership with the Buda Main Street Program and was held in the historic Kunkel Room at Buda Elementary School. Mayor George Haehn provided the City of Buda welcome and Linda Coker, courthouse coordinator for Hays County, served as the keynote speaker. Both spoke of the importance of historic preservation and maintaining Buda’s unique character.
The event concludes a month-long national preservation campaign that focuses on the importance of historical buildings and their contributions to the fabric of one’s community. The City of Buda will continue to celebrate and focus on historic preservation efforts through organizations like the Historic Preservation Commission and Main Street Program.
