The Buda City Council has approved the second and final reading of the City’s amended Water Resource Management and Drought Response Ordinance. The ordinance establishes drought condition triggers and serves as a strategy for reducing water consumption, reducing the loss or waste of water, and improving the efficiency in the use of water.
Our current ordinance was adopted in January of 2012. The Texas Water Development Board requires that we update our water conservation and drought contingency plans every five years.
The updated ordinance includes the addition of new definitions such as Outdoor Splash Pads and Protected Trees. Drought triggers were also modified to add drought conditions from the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority. Under the amended plan, we encourage our water customers to abide by a year round irrigation schedule of twice per week watering.
