As we begin 2018, our crew continues to make progress on the new Municipal Building. The building houses our new city hall and the library.
“Right now they are wrapping up on interior finishes for the City Hall portion of the building," said Project Manager Ray Creswell. "We will be doing a walk-through the first part of next week.”
From City Council chambers to administrative Offices, the inside of the Municipal Building has taken shape.
“Interior finishes are going in and that will be on-going for another three or four days until they get ready to do the walk-through.”
Our future library will get some much-needed space. We are going from a current space of 5,200 square feet to 25,000 square feet.
“The library is the next step. They are still waiting on overhead inspections in order to close in the ceilings. There are some details we are working out on hiding some of the duct work.”
In the meantime, exterior work on the building is still coming along.
“They are going to start the wood finish on the exterior of the building. The wood will also run inside the main lobby area and in the City Council chambers.”
Construction is on schedule and the building is expected to be finished by April.
