Another week brings more progress at the Municipal Site. The inside of the City Hall and Library is taking shape.
“They’re going up with the dry wall on both sides. They have had inspections and have completed almost all of the in-wall and above ceiling,” said Project Manager Ray Creswell.
City Council chambers have been walled in and the stone is now in place. The lobby area is also coming together.
“The exterior portion or the lobby area, the finishes are now going up on the stone. A little bit of the metal that’s going in there will be going up pretty soon. We’re working on our way right on down into the library. You have your public toilet area, your classroom and then activity classrooms on either side that open up into the library. Those portions are beginning to have the walls completely closed in and the ceiling framing put in place.”
Work also continues on the drainage channel.
"They’re going up with the erosion mats on the side walls of the channel and are beginning to put in the landscape sub-grade and coming back in with the landscaping."
The Public Safety building is almost finished.
“All exterior is complete. We do have some minor areas where they are beginning to touch up. Landscaping is taking place around the entire building. The parking lot has been completely paved and striped. The garage is approximately 90 percent complete."
The Police department should be moving into the new building in mid-to-late November.
The City Hall and Library is expected to open in April of 2018.
