Buda City Manager Kenneth Williams was recently elected Vice President of the Texas City Management Association (TCMA) for 2017-2018. TCMA consists of local government professionals dedicated to promoting the highest standards of governance, service, leadership, ethics, and education while embracing individual and regional diversity for the benefit of the membership and cities like Buda. As Vice President, Mr. Williams will chair the state-wide TCMA Membership Committee.
Mr. Williams has served as City Manager of Buda since September 2008. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the city, applies strategic direction, implements council policies, and coordinates community issues. Mr. Williams previously held positions with the City of Diboll as City Manager (2006-2008), the City of Lufkin as Assistant City Manager of Administrative Services (2004-2006), Director of Public Works (1997-2004), and served as Lufkin’s Emergency Management Coordinator (1997- 2006). During his tenure as the Emergency Management Coordinator, he was responsible for coordinating the City’s responses to the Space Shuttle Columbia Tragedy, Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita.
He has a Bachelor Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin University and Master Public Administration from Villanova University.
Some major accomplishments during his tenure as Buda City Manager include implementation of the Buda Police Department, the reconstruction of the Main Street Overpass, construction of the Robert S. Light Bridge, directed the development of a new Comprehensive, Transportation and Downtown Plans, the construction and inauguration of the Tyler Norris Memorial Skate Park, and is currently overseeing the City’s various bond projects, including a new Municipal/Library Facility, Public Safety Building, Parks projects, Drainage projects and Street improvements.
