The City of Buda is seeking additional city water customers to participate in the Lead and Copper sampling program. The program is required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to ensure water purveyors are providing water treated in a manner that will not lead to potential leaching of lead and copper. Information on the program can be found here:
https://www.tceq.texas.gov/drinkingwater/chemicals/lead_copper/lead-copper.html
The program involves collecting a water sample from the kitchen sink after no water use has occurred in the home for a minimum of 6 hours (usually the first draw of water, first thing in the morning). City of Buda water customers that participate will be provided a copy of the lab sample results for their residence once the lab analysis has been completed.
Sample sites are needed in the following neighborhoods:
•Creekside
•Cullen Country
•Garlic Creek
•Whispering Hollow
•Elm Grove
PLEASE NOTE: Only 5 sites are needed from each subdivision listed. Interest in participation does not guarantee selection. Ideal sites are homes that do not have a water softener or reverse osmosis system installed and in operation. Addresses will be selected on a first-to-respond basis, as well as their spatial distribution in the water system. Preference will be given to homes without an in-home treatment system.
If you are interested in participating, please email blillibridge@ci.buda.tx.us with the following information:
•Street address
•Date of home construction
•Type of in-home water treatment system installed at residence, if any
