City Hall/Library and Public Safety Building Update - May 16, 2017
Work continues to move full steam ahead on the Municipal Site.
“It’s real exciting to see the building start to come together," said City Manager Kenneth Williams.
From the bond election in 2014 to now, City Manager Kenneth Williams has been there every step of the way. He says the new Municipal Complex will streamline City operations.
“This is going to be a centralized location for government for us. This will enable us to be a more productive organization. We’ll be able to have all of our engineering, planning and departments in one place.
Now that the steel frame is in place for City Hall, work will begin on the exterior walls. The floor deck and roof deck installation will also start. Steel for the public space will arrive this week as well.
The steel for the library will arrive next week and it will be erected in a few weeks. Meanwhile, wall work and stone installation continues on the drainage channel.
And then of course there is the Public Safety Building.
“The Public Safety Building is a big part of this. You know public safety is important to the quality of life in Buda. And it was very important to myself and the City Council to be a part of this project. I’m just looking forward to the project coming into place.”
Exterior Walls continue to go up on the Public Safety Building. Roofing will begin this week.
With more and more work being completed every day, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The Public Safety Building is slated to open in late October, or early November of this year. The City Hall and Library will be finished by April of 2018.
“Through it all we’ll have something that the citizens will have and will be able to use for many, many years into the future.”
