More progress is being made on the Municipal Site. From Main Street you can now see the steel structure for the City Hall and Library building.
“It is exciting. I’m glad to see the building starting to go vertical at this point. We do still have a little bit of site work that needs to be taken care of,” said Project Manager Ray Creswell.
The steel that has gone up so far is for the City Hall portion of the building. This includes administrative offices and City Council chambers. The steel for the public space or lobby portion of the building should be arriving at the end of this week. That will be followed by the steel for the library.
“All the steel should take approximately about three weeks total on it.”
And once the crew is finished erecting the steel…
“They’ll start with the exterior wall framing, start snapping interior wall layouts. Some of that has already been done, but they’re waiting until all the overhead steel is in place.”
Progress on the Public Safety Building is moving fast.
“The steel is up on the Public Safety Building and they are actually doing exterior wall framing at the moment. They’ve popped the interior wall layouts. They’re starting to hang some of the mechanical duct hangers throughout.”
“They will also be doing the parking lot layout, curb and gutter.”
Work on the drainage ditch is also on the horizon.
“They’re going to start on the retaining walls and the head walls for the drainage ditch. That will start taking place. And it will look like an entire project, once those are completed been completed.”
A pedestrian bridge will connect the parking lot to the Main Building.
"There will be some landscaping on top of it. It will become a very ornamental element to the entire project."
The Public Safety building is still on schedule to open in late October or early November of this year. The City Hall and Library building is set to open in April of 2018.
