The Buda City Council unanimously approved a motion to direct the City Attorney to negotiate an employment agreement for Mr. Micah Grau to serve as the new City Manager of Buda. Mr. Grau has served as Interim City Manager since former City Manager Kenneth Williams retired in March. Previously, Grau served as Deputy City Manager in Buda, and Assistant City Manager in Hutto (along with other positions).
“The City Council is confident that promoting Mr. Grau provides us with a unique chance to preserve stability within the organization while providing opportunities to make improvements in the operation,” stated Mayor Lee Urbanovsky. “We are excited to be able to continue this relationship.”
Grau received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas A&M University and his Master’s in Public Administration from Texas State University. He is a Credentialed City Manager through the International City/County Management Association and has been a Certified Government Finance Officer through the Government Finance Officers Association of Texas. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Texas City Management Association.
Prior to naming Grau as the sole finalist, the City Council conducted an extensive nationwide recruitment effort facilitated by Baker Tilly, an executive search firm. The search yielded 89 applicants.
Grau will continue serving as Interim City Manager until an employment agreement is mutually executed, which is anticipated to be completed in June or July.
