Official Vote Tally Confirms Runoff Election in Buda
BUDA, TEXAS – After completing vote canvassing, the City of Buda’s Position 3 At-Large will have a runoff between the top two vote recipients, LaVonia Horne-Williams and Emily Jones. As noted in the unofficial results, Buda’s bond Proposition A (transportation projects) and Proposition B (parks projects) passed with ease.
Official vote tallies indicate candidate Horne-Williams’ combined absentee, early voting and election day votes totaled 635 or 48.92%; candidate Jones’ combined votes totaled 439 or 33.82%; and third place candidate Virginia Jurika’s combined votes totaled 224 or 17.26%. Because official results show no candidate reached the 51% majority threshold, a runoff election between the top two candidates will occur Dec. 7, 2021. Prop A passed with 74.40% in favor and 25.60% against. Prop B passed with 75.41% in favor and 25.59% against.
