COVID CASES CONTINUE TO RISE IN BUDA AND HAYS COUNTY
Stay Budaful, Healthy, & Mask Up
BUDA, TX - Dec. 16, 2020 - COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Buda and across Hays County. It is a reminder that we are still in a global pandemic. Please continue to stay vigilant and take the necessary precautions to protect your loved ones, our healthcare workers, and the community. Together we can make a “budaful” difference.
There are three important ways to help slow the spread:
· Wear a mask to protect yourself and others.
· Stay at least 6 feet from others who do not live with you, and avoid crowds.
· Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
“COVID-19 cases in Hays County have dramatically spiked since Thanksgiving. The City of Buda has seen an increase of over 200 new cases in this same period," said Mayor Lee Urbanovsky. "There are many families in Buda currently fighting this virus and many more in quarantine due to exposure. Pandemic fatigue is only one of many new terms we are learning through this experience. 10 months is a long time, but we need to stay vigilant with wearing masks, washing hands and social distancing.”
According to the latest numbers from the Hays County Health Department, Buda has close to 230 positive COVID-19 cases. The latest number of COVID cases in Buda and Hays County can be found on the City’s website at www.ci.buda.tx.us/coronavirusinformation.
“This virus is actively spreading in our communities,” said Hays County Epidemiologist Eric Schneider. “By taking safety measures seriously we can slow it down, but it will take all of us working together.”
As the holidays approach please consider celebrating virtually or with the people in your household. This poses the lowest risk for spread. Travel may increase your chance of spreading and getting COVID-19. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to recommend postponing travel and staying home.
