Buda City Park Update
Thank you for your patience during the continued construction of Buda City Park. It is the joint interest and objective of the City and the general contractor to ensure our new park is functional, safe, and compliant with all requirements for the enjoyment of residents for years to come. The City’s priority is to ensure the project is complete and fully ready for the enjoyment of events, play, and outdoor leisure activities prior to opening the park to the public. There are still crucial items that need to be completed before the 51-acre park can safely open. This includes structural and electrical work, along with the required code and design compliance inspections. The general contractor has not met the terms of substantial completion which has led to delays in the project. The City of Buda is working diligently with the contractor to ensure the remaining items are completed.
Buda City Park is the City's only regional park. Regional parks are intended to serve the entire city and very often are considered the premier park in a community. Historically, City Park has hosted several popular events, including the City's annual "Red, White & Buda" Independence Day celebration. While this year has made it difficult to hold traditional events due to COVID-19, we look forward to attracting festivals, concerts, and other activities as we move into 2021 and beyond. We are looking forward to the safe opening of the new and improved City Park!
