The City of Buda continues to experience a scam involving a caller who is spoofing City of Buda phone numbers. Spoofing is when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your caller ID display to disguise their identity. If someone calls you from a City of Buda number claiming that your social security number has been compromised and/or you have outstanding payments, or asks for any personal information, this is a scam. You can ask for the caller’s name, hang up and call the City back with the information you received. You are also encouraged to report this to the Buda Police Department at 512-393-7896.
